Palataforma 2

This week we continue working at plataforma. We made since the activity 5 until 9. 

This activities were really interesting I liked made the quiz like “Which stereotype do you fall under?”, “What member of the Simpsons you are?” or “do you have the necessary to be a teacher?”. 

I think my favorite activity was form the unit 5 called “Can you name the countries by stereotype?” I chose this as my favourite because I realized that there’s a lot of countries that I don’t know how is them in English, now I have to work in them and learn more countries names in English.

And also, there’s an activity that was hard for me and I had to make it twice but finally i got it, and it’s from the unit 7 “Challenges of education” and it’s named “the school of the future”.

Plataforma

Hello, today I'm going to tell you a little about the exercise from plataforma. 

I made until the activity 4. 

I don´t think that the activities was hard, but I have to say that the video of the activity number three i watched it like three times  because the guy spoke really fast for me, but finally I understood it.

So, the most hard task for me is the number three, because there's a lot informatión, video was fast and one link doesn't worked.

I enjoyed the first activity and the third. It's funny  because I got nervous looking the answers. 

Finally, definitely the skill has been more challenging for me this semester is listening, because sometimes the dialogues are so fast for me, but I think I improved this semester and I just have to practice more. 

Well,  semester almost finish, and this is one of the last blogs, just want to say that I enjoy so much write it.

My Blogging Experience

Well, This is the last blog of the English class. So I want to tell you a little about my experience.
I like use blog, this is actually my first blog and I like it because It's a way to talk a little about some things that I don't usually talk about and also I'm not  good to express my emotions when I talk with people like face to face, but I think write about what you feel it's a good way to express yourself.
Now, about the skills, I think that I have work harder to write better, but write a blog is a good way to work my english and my writing skills.
I think that I'll keep writting the blog because It's a different way to learn and practice english, but I don't know what I'll include in the future, probably about things that happen not specifically.
Maybe I'll write about my day, everyday and everytime you have new experiences and good thinks to say, and you maybe talk about music or movies.
It's been a good experience with the blog. I like change the classroom and go to the lab.

My favourite book

I like read since I was a little girl. I learn to read when I was like 5 or 6 years and I had two favourite books "La Porota" by Hernan del Solar and "Historias de Ninguno" by Larun Rayun but the first book I read I don't remember the name I search it in google but I can not find it but I remember the story, a little girl goes with her family to USA for vacations.
I like read book about history and novels preferebly not so tragical. I don't have a favour author but I have a favourite book "Cien años de soledad" ("One hundred years of solitude") by Gabriel García Marquez. I also like "El lugar sin límites" by José Donoso.
I'm not reading a book in this moment because I've been really bussy with the university but I download some Roberto Bolaño´s books to read later.
I like read in vacations, and sometimes I go to a café to read a good book.
If you have recomendations I'll be grateful I'll keep searching until i find the name of the first book I read when I was in my 1st grade.

Fast food

I must to admit I love fast food. I know it is not healthy but fast food is delicious.
If I hace to choose the best place to eat burgers I choose Mc Donalds and Burguer Kings and the best place to eat fries is definitely Juan Maestro but the best pizzas you can found them at "Ravera" (Ravera is my grandma's favourite place to eat). Fortunately I've never had bad experiences with fast food like Stomach pains  so I can't choose the worst place to eat fast food.
Although I love fast food I try don't eat it too often so I eat a burguer as once a month, but Being honest I prefer cook a homemade pizza than go to some restaurant or something like that.
My favourite fast food is a big cheeseburguer with a lot of cheese preferably and I love the cheese empanadas with ketchup.

Gabriel Salazar

Today I'm going to talk about Gabriel Salazar. He is a chilean historian, philosopher and sociologist from the Universidad de Chile and doctor of historical and social economics from the University of Hull, England

He is one of the founder of the new historiographical current "New Social History" and he won the national history price 2006.

He made a lot of important works like "Construcción del Estado en Chile", "En el nombre del poder popular constituyente", "La Historia desde abajo y desde adentro" just for name some. 

Being honest, I don't think he is the most important person for the public administration but he's really important to learn about the reality of our country focusing on the people. Gabriel Salazar is one of my favourite historian of Chile, because his studies focus on the popular subject and he makes interesting theories about the contingency of our country like political crises, democracy and indigence.

My favourite movie

My taste in movies are really bad I like mindless movies, I always watch the same movies over and over again and there’s a lot of years  that i don’t go to the cinema. 

When I read the assigment of this week I start to think what is my favourite movie and automatically thought in Amelie but a few seconds later Frida comes to my mind.

I chose Amélie because I like the way she try to change the world with little things, the movie has a beautiful design and the soundtrack is awesome. And Frida because I think that I'm a little bit obssesed with Frida Kahlo since I was a little girl.

I can't remember when was the first time I watched those movies but I'm sure that was a lot of years ago. 

I like watch stupid movies like "Mean Girls", "legally blonde", "White chicks", "Juno" etc.

Actually, my friends and I celebrated our "Netflix party" and first we watched "Warm bodies" that  was about a girl who fell in love with a zombie (a very interesting topic haha) and then we watched "Soul planes" one of the most funny movies that I've ever seen. 

A photograph I like

I must confess that I had a hard time choosing  a picture for this blog, because being photogenic is not one of my qualities. So I chose this picture.

Being honest, I don't take this picture by my own I actually found it in Google, but I chose it because I spend my last vacations there with my family.

This picture is from Punta de Tralca, a beach located in the region of Valparaiso close to other beaches like El Quisco, Isla Negra and Algarrobo, It's a beautiful place and is very quiet so It's perfect for a summer relax.

The reason I chose this picture is because the vacations with my family are very important to me, I have the best memories and a lot of good stories. My family loves the beach so whenever we have the chance we take the car and go to the beach. And I just want to say that I love the beach in winter

My favourite music

There are some people who have a certain musical tastes, but I'm not of those kind of people.

My favourite band and my favourite song are always changing, so when people ask me what's your favourite band or musician I have to think a lot in the answer. Right now I think my favourite band is Franz Ferdinand I never saw them live (because I'm poor haha) but the next time they come to Chile I promisse I will go to the concert.

Also I like The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Kaiser Chiefs, etc. And my favourite song  now is "Romeo and Juliet" by an old band called Dire Straits. 

I don't remember when I started listening this kind of music, but I remember my first concert I was like 11 or 12 years old and it was awesome I saw firt Casino, then Saiko, Victor Heredia and Inti Illimani. 

I also saw other bands and musicians live like Francisca Valenzuela, Los Tres, Manuel García, Fito Paez and Pedro "Tata" Barahona.

I'm always loocking for new bands and musicians so if you have a recommendation I will thank you.

My Favourite Piece Of Technology

If somebody ask you what's your favourite piece of technology, something you can't live without it What do you answer?

Well I'm sure in a fifty percent that you can live without technology but I'm totally sure that technology makes our life so much easier.

If I have to choose only one, probably I'll take my cellphone or maybe my computer. But the fact here is choose only one so I'll chose my cellphone.

My cellphone was a gift from my parents two Christmas ago, now it's old and ugly but I love it anyway.

I chose my cellphone as my favourite piece of technology because it wakes me every morning, it can take pictures  and I can listen to music, sometimes I download books and I read them from my cellphone, I can text my friends and in an emergency I  call my parents.

I use my cellphone every day since morning until the night.

I think without my cell phone I probably should have more technology devices, an alarm clock, a watch, a mp3, etc.

I guess the smart phones are one of the most increduble inventions.

Is that right?

EXPECTATIONS FOR A NEW SEMESTER

When a new semester is starting is the time to make our own expectations,

This semester I have a lot expectations and I hope make them come true

First, pass all my subjects, even tough I wouldn't  choose this subjects as my favorites but the next semester the signatures seem more interesting, so I'm excited and really motivated to pass all the subjects of this semester. I can't wait to finish it and begin the next semester.

Now, about the extracurrilars. I don't do  extracurricular activitys  formally, but in new year decided that I'll practice any kind of sport. and at least for now I accomplished it. Also I expect to learn to drive and get my driver's license.

Finally I expect keep doing what I like, keep studying and enjoy the career I chose 

My Autobiography

Hi, 

This is my first blog, so I will start introducing myself 

My name is Macarena Andrewartha Garrido but everybody call me Maca. I'm 19 years old. I was born in May 5th, 1995 in Santiago, Chile

I have a big family, I live with my parents, my two brothers, my little sister and my cat "Pierina".

When I graduated from school I started my studies of public administration at "Universidad de Chile". and now I'm a 2nd grade student of this career.

In my free time I like watch a good movie in my bed or spend time with my friends eating pizza and talking about life.

This is a little of my story. and I share it with you
